Kate Hudson reflects on marrying Chris Robinson when she was 21: 'Not a mistake'

There are no hard feelings between Kate Hudson and her “first love.”
The actress and singer reflected on her relationship with musician Chris Robinson in an interview on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast that released Wednesday. The two were married from 2000-2007 and share son Ryder.
Hudson, who was 21 at the time the couple tied the knot, told host Alex Cooper she doesn’t regret her “whirlwind” marriage to The Black Crowes singer, then 34.
“I didn’t question it for a second. We were so connected,” Hudson said. “Chris taught me so much about love and connection. It was just a wonderfully passionate relationship.”

Despite their eventual split, the "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" star said the nearly decade-long relationship was “not a mistake.”
"I look back at my entire life at this point, and I actually feel like I might have gotten it right,” Hudson said. “There's this sort of construct that we're supposed to do it a certain way, which I understand ‘cause I really believe in the (family) unit, and I think it's what's missing right now."
She added: "But I do believe that a unit can exist differently than this sort of, like, very kind of religious concept of marriage and male-female relationship."

Kate Hudson is choosing to 'be in more healthy relationships'
Following her marriage to Robinson, Hudson has been dating musician Danny Fujikawa since 2017. The couple, who share 5-year-old daughter Rani Rose, revealed their engagement in late 2021.
The “Glass Onion” actress seemed to allude to the ease of her blended family life in her conversation with Cooper.
"Having the means and the ability to choose to be in more healthy relationships means that it's easy,” Hudson said. "Just because you're not supposed to be with someone doesn't mean that you can't create a big, beautiful experience. I don't know how I've been able to do it, but we just do it, all of us."
Though she's best known as an actor, the Oscar nominee has recently made her long-awaited foray into the music industry. On May 17, she released her debut album, "Glorious."
"I love music. I've loved music my entire life. It was my first love, and I've been writing music my whole life," Hudson said on "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" earlier this month. "And I thought it was something I'd only have for myself until, like, COVID. And then I was like, 'I'll regret not just putting it out in the world.'"
