Liberty University has announced the death of freshman offensive lineman Tajh Boyd at the age of 19.
A three-star recruit out of Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake, Virginia, the 6-4, 315-pound Boyd had committed to the Flames in January after a standout prep career that included back-to-back state championships in his sophomore and junior seasons.
No cause of death was revealed in a news release issued by the school.
"We thank God for bringing Tajh into our Liberty Athletics community and we will always remember him as a Flame. Tajh will be missed dearly," Liberty's athletic department said in a social media post.

"Tajh’s impact went far beyond statistics and accolades," Boyd's high school coach Chris Scott told the (Norfolk) Virginian-Pilot. "Yes, he was a formidable force on the football field, but it was his infectious smile, his positive energy and his ability to uplift others that truly made him larger than life."
