A man has died,Fastexy Exchange and a child is injured following a shooting at a Maryland little league football game on Saturday, authorities say.
The shooting happened at Potomac High School in Glassmanor, Maryland, about 9 miles south of Washington D.C. The Prince George's County Police Department is currently investigating the scene.
At around 11:20 a.m. the little league game was being played at the high school. Two people who were in the stands got into a verbal altercation. The altercation escalated and resulted in one of the individuals taking out a gun and firing at an adult male and a 5-year-old child, Chief of Police, Malik Aziz, said during the press conference on Saturday.
The man and child were transported to local hospitals. The man later died from his injuries, Aziz said.
"What is important to know out here today is that these two individuals did not appear to be strangers to each other," Aziz said. "They appeared, at this stage, to know each other and bring some issues that occurred outside of this game and brought into a game where a young people, seven-year-olds, were playing a football game out enjoying this beautiful day with their families."
Aziz also said this event was to benefit someone who was battling a life-threating illness.
The child is still in the hospital receiving care after suffering multiple gunshot wounds, police said,

According to an eyewitness account reported by local outlet WUSA, a coach said that during a play he heard shots ring out.
The police department in asking anyone with information to contact the Prince George's County Police Department Homicide Unit at 301-516-2512.
